WEEKEND RECAP GROUNDWORKS
WINDHAM, OHIO
Ohio didn’t hold back. The Age Group East Coast Sprint Series ended with a final, all-out push through the Sprint course. But the real punishment came on the Beast and Ultra—mud-soaked, muscle-burning miles that chewed racers up and dared them to keep going. This was some of the worst terrain we’ve seen all year. It was brutal. It was relentless. And every Spartan who crossed that line earned it the hard way.
TORONTO, CANADA
A picturesque ski mountain outside Toronto became an arena for 6,000 Spartans facing nature's full fury this past weekend, as Saturday delivered a relentless battle against both the course and the skies. Those who endured were met with a savagely muddy, slippery track and two brutal, full ascents of the ski hill that demanded everything they had. The wild weather didn't even spare the Kids Race, testing our youngest warriors to their core. Yet, Sunday's cold, clear skies brought a powerful show of community spirit, capped by a plank and push-up contest in the festival, proving Spartans always celebrate their strength together.
BIG BEAR, CALIFORNIA
Known as the West Coast's hardest course, Big Bear delivered views so stunning they were literally breathtaking, thanks to both the beauty and the brutal, oxygen-thinning altitude. The Beast lived up to its name, starting at a soul-crushing 7,000 feet of elevation, forcing racers up to 8,200 feet above sea level where the thin air and "climbs, climbs, and more climbs" tested every ounce of their resolve. The U.S. National Series continued with Elite and Age Group Sprints on Saturday while multiple Spartans returned on Sunday to podium both days at multiple distances. Conquering Big Bear isn't just about finishing; it's about waging war against an unforgiving mountain.
AUSTIN, TEXAS
Reveille Peak Ranch unleashed its full Texan fury this past weekend, as thousands of Spartans showed up for a brutal Austin showdown. Under the blazing Texas sun, racers battled a punishing course carved through fields of cacti, over granite outcrops, and across dry creek beds. The rocky terrain and hilly landscape offered no mercy, turning legs to lead while the ever-present heat tried to bake the fight out of even the toughest competitors. Spartan Trail runners also carved their own path of perseverance, enduring mile after sun-baked mile of that same unforgiving, rocky wilderness. Only those with true grit etched their victory into the heart of Texas.
HENLEY-ON-THAMES, ENGLAND
Spartan London West 2025 kicked off the UK season in full force under bright spring skies, with the Super 10K firing the opening shot of the National Series. Josie Lloyd crushed it on the women’s side, while Tommy Tweddell dominated the men’s race. The course at Culden Faw tested every ounce of grit with rolling hills and punishing inclines, pushing Spartans to their limits. The inaugural Kids European Championship brought the next generation, smashing records with the biggest and fiercest field yet. Spartans earned their hard-fought Trifectas, and during the Men’s Mental Health Wave in the 5K Sprint, athletes shared the weight and raised the importance of ‘It’s Good to Talk,’ proving strength isn’t just physical—it’s mental too.
COATESVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA
The rolling hills of Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley transformed into a proving ground for thousands of Mudders as they endured a legendary Philly beatdown this past weekend. They charged through shoe-sucking mud, battled relentless terrain including steep inclines and riverbed crossings, and faced down infamous obstacles that tested every shred of their physical and mental resolve. From the fast-paced 5K to the grueling 15K and the all-out war of the Infinity challenge, every hard-earned headband was a testament to unbreakable spirit and the power of shared suffering.
